According to the US Census of 2014, it costs over $11,000 to educate a student in Iowa. At Dubuque Lutheran School, we strive to keep the cost to families as low as possible to facilitate the availability of an exceptional Christian education to families within the Tri-State area.
Dubuque Lutheran School’s goal is to provide a quality, Christ-centered education to any family in the community who desires it for their child — with generous tuition assistance available.
Tuition for the 2017-2018 school year is:
- $3,000 for members of St. Paul or Our Redeemer Lutheran Churches
- $3,950 for community members
New families receive a $500 tuition coupon (non-transferable, one per family, not combined with any other offers). Tuition can be paid annually, by semester, or in monthly installments. (Note: that the actual cost to educate each child at DLS is $6,700 per student. Tuition cost is supported by direct donations and by our congregations.)
An early-registration fee of $75 per family is due when registering before April 1 (after April 1, the fee is $150 per family). The supply fee is $60 per student (not to exceed $120 per family).
DLS is committed to providing quality, Christian education to families enrolling multiple children. A very generous tuition adjustments is made for multiple children attending DLS:
- Second student discounted 20%
- Third student discounted 40%
- Fourth student discounted 60%
We would love to have you and your children be a part of our school! Register Now for the next school year!

Dubuque Lutheran School admits students of any race, sex, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, nationality or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policy, admission policy, tuition assistance policy or other school policies. (DLSA Policy #2.1)
Dubuque Lutheran School’s open-student policy does not limit its students to congregational members only. The school reaches out to the community to educate children of all faiths and denominations (including the un-churched) in a Christ-centered environment. About 75% of the student body is comprised of non-Lutheran community members. A parent recently stated it like this, “Keeping our Faith in our daily routine is very important to us. The small family atmosphere is unmatched here, at Dubuque Lutheran School.”
We would love the opportunity to show you our school facilities and introduce you to our excellent teachers. Please contact us to take a guided tour.
